National Planning Framework
The Department of Housing Planning and Local Government, on behalf of the Government, has prepared and published the finalised National Planning Framework under Project Ireland 2040, the overarching policy and planning framework for the social, economic and cultural development of our country.

Examining public service complaints
Independent, impartial and free
We examine complaints from people who feel they have been unfairly treated by a public service provider. We can examine complaints against most organisations that deliver public services. These include government departments, local authorities, the HSE, nursing homes and publicly funded third level education bodies.
The Standards in Public Office Commission (SIPO)
The Standards in Public Office Commission is an independent body established in December 2001 by the Standards in Public Office Act 2001. It has six members and is chaired by a former Judge of the High Court. It has supervisory roles under four separate pieces of legislation. Its functions include supervising the disclosure of interests and compliance with tax clearance requirements, the disclosure of donations and election expenditure, the expenditure of state funding received by political parties and the registration of lobbying.

Myplan.ie is a web map portal providing spatial information relevant to the planning process in Ireland. This site is an initiative of the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government in conjunction with Irish Local Authorities.
Irish Planning Institute
The Irish Planning Institute is the all-island professional body representing professional planners engaged in physical, spatial and environmental planning in Ireland and Irish planners practicing overseas.

An Bord Pleanála
An Bord Pleanála was established in 1977 under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1976 and is responsible for the determination of appeals and certain other matters under the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, and associated legislation, and determination of applications for strategic infrastructure development including major road and railway cases. It is also responsible for dealing with proposals for the compulsory acquisition of land by local authorities and others under various enactments. The Board also has functions to determine appeals under the Local Government (Water Pollution) Acts and the Building Control Acts.

National Oversight & Audit Commission
The National Oversight & Audit Commission is a statutory body established by Ministerial order under section 126B of the Local Government Act 2001, to oversee the local government sector.
Royal Town Planning Institute
The Royal Town Planning Institute is the UK’s leading planning body for spatial, sustainable and inclusive planning and is the largest planning institute in Europe with over 25,000 members. The RTPI is a membership organization and a Chartered Institute responsible for maintaining professional standards and accrediting world class planning courses nationally and internationally.
Lobbying Regulation Unit
The Regulation of Lobbying legislation is designed to provide information to the public about who is lobbying whom about what.

Regional Assemblies
Ireland’s Regional Authorities have a range of powers in relation to spatial planning and economic development.
They were streamlined into three Regional Assemblies in 2015, representing the Northern and Western , Eastern and Midlands , and the Southern Regions.
